Named for “the starter” (the mother, la madre) of sourdough, this bar starts with one of my favourite loaves: Sud Forno’s “pan pugliese” which I slice thinly, then slowly toast in the oven after brushing with olive oil and Rosewood Winery wildflower honey.

Allergy aware: made in a facility that also processes milk, soy, flour, peanuts and tree nuts.
